2016 Anime Matsuri
Recently I found myself going through the massive catalog of photos I have in search for a particular set of photos. I stumbled across a complete album of photos that were never processed and publish. They were from last year’s Anime Matsuri convention. With this years beginning tomorrow, I figured what better time to finally release them.
I hosted the Reactor show last year with hopes to attend the rest of the con during that weekend. Plans changed and I wasn’t able to attend during Friday. With running the car show Saturday, it only left Sunday as an option to storm the different halls of the George R. Brown convention center here in Houston, Texas.
Sunday was lighter than the previous days, but there was still a lot of people in attendance — so much that Anime Matsuri is now the largest Anime/Japanese culture convention in Houston and now #7 in North America. I walked around the vendor halls to see what goodies I could snag with my son. We found a lot of things we wanted but went home with only a few bags of goodies. We ventured into the other halls to see some of the other activities: including gaming, foam weapon duels, car playing, cosplay shoots, and much more. As we walked around, I snapped a few photos of some of the cosplayers in attendance and some of the activities. Hopefully enough to give you a taste of what Anime Matsuri is all about.
By this time tomorrow, 2017 Anime Matsuri will have started. I can’t want to see what’s all in store for this year. As for the rides in the show area, I am eager to see which ones were approved as it was all handled by AM staff. I’ll share some sneak peeks from tonight’s roll in, make sure to follow our social media channels to see some previews and live action over the weekend!
