Cars & Karts September 2017
Houston has been going through a lot lately with hurricane Harvey leaving quite a bit of mess behind. Originally the meet was set for the Saturday, August 25 which we ended up rescheduling the meet with Harvey being in town that weekend, and it’s a good thing we did.
Luckily both our DJ Mik One and The Burger Joint food truck were still able to make it out for the new date. I arrived at K1 Speed, the venue of the meet later than I originally expected to… much later. I planned on arriving early with plenty of time before the meet started but I arrived just minutes before the official starting time. I wasn’t the only one there as there were several others already here ready for the meet to start.
I helped my wife set up our table with Spekture merchandise before heading over to The Burger Joint to place an order for a few burgers, then I walked to the Mexican restaurant in the shopping center to grab some beef quesadillas since my daughter doesn’t usually eat burgers, she’s a bit of a picky eater. After eating and hanging out for a bit, I decided to finally grab my camera to start my coverage but a few cars had already left. I was actually surprised at how many rides came out for the meet, my experience with rescheduled events haven’t been great so I was expecting a smaller turnout. It wasn’t over just yet either as more people continued showing up throughout the rest of the evening.
I hung out for the remainder of the meet while I continued walking around snapping photos and chatting with a few people. For the most part, this was a different crowd of people than what I usually see at other meets with a few familiar faces. Honestly, I haven’t been to a Friday night meet in a long time so it could be that. Stay tuned for the next one!
