Hot Import Nights Sydney December 2017
For the first time in Australia, the highly-successful and globally-renowned American brand Hot Import Nights (HIN) ventured Down-Under to Sydney, Australia on Sunday 10th December at Sydney Olympic Park. I attended the event for Spekture to see how the show panned out and to experience first hand the sights and sounds of the inaugural event.
To say that a great deal of anticipation comes with a high profile event such as HIN would be an understatement. HIN is a curated car meet that motivates and celebrates the local elite of the modified car community while retaining the aspects and values that make the American brand unique, focusing on vibrant entertainment, car models, and youth culture. In addition, the local HIN team created a lifestyle festival element to excite all those present, offering a collaborative atmosphere across the genres of entertainment, fashion, technology, food and pop culture. The event also provided the opportunity to explore the latest and greatest technological advancements including drone racing, virtual reality and augmented reality.
On my arrival, I was truly amazed at the interest in the event. Whilst Spekture has long attended events with the HIN brand in the USA, I was unsure how the popularity of the event would transpire in Australia. The warmer weather and clear, sunny skies added a true festival feeling to what I could already tell was going to be a great event. Over 200 cars were on display along with a number of traders, sponsors, importers and corporate exhibitors. Further support artists and events included the Heavy In The Middle Freestyle Battles, Miss Hot Import Nights Australia pageant, the HIN Project Car Unveil, Dance Performances from the HIN go-go dancers and appearances by US Rapper and Youtube celebrity Timothy Delaghetto
HIN is a lifestyle and pop culture brand that advocates individuality, uniqueness, and friendly competition, providing a platform and a community in Australia where enthusiasts across the broad spectrum of lifestyle and culture can gather and celebrate their life-long passions. From the success of its maiden event, and ongoing support from event partners and sponsors (being Shannons Insurance, Nitto Tyres Australia, AutoCraze & Autosports Honda), it would be fair to assume that this won’t be the last time we see the HIN brand in OZ and I look forward to the next instalment here in the near future.
