Houston Coffee and Cars May 2017
After missing last month’s Houston Coffee and Cars gathering, I returned to Memorial City Mall to partake in this month’s meeting and see what all would be on display. As I walked out of the house that Saturday morning, I was greeted with an unseasonably cold breeze for May, in Texas.
I proceeded to the venue arriving a bit early, but many rides were already parked. I grabbed my gear and began to walk around to start my coverage on this cool spring morning. After walking around snapping photos, the cooler temperatures disappeared and the sun’s heat started beating down on all the spectators. From cool to hot in under an hour, that’s Houston for you.
The main area in the front of the mall is usually filled with modern and vintage exotics and any other special guest rides being placed front and center. Continuing down the parking lot, the remainder is filled with various types and makes of rides. This center area is the main focus of the meet, with many more rides filling up the parking lot.
To the east of the main display area, was where most of the other cars were parked for display, and it was filled with all kinds of domestic and import rides. I went through this area to snap photos of most of the rides that captured my attention, I didn’t get them all, but I got most of them! As the meet continued, more cars arrived and eventually, the lineup started to extend out of the venue. I made my trip back to the center for a few more photos before venturing back home.
This month’s gatherings also held a collection for stuffed animals with the Houston Police Department to go to the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. HPD stuffed their Humvee with various stuffed animals from everyone that donated. Houston Coffee and Cars will return to Memorial City Mall on June 3 from 8 am till 10 am!
