Houston Coffee and Cars May 2018
For the month of May, Houston Coffee and Cars was back to its regular schedule even with the rainy forecast. Yep, that’s right…this show was going on, rain or shine! Despite the weather, many car enthusiasts still came out to enjoy the monthly gathering held at Memorial City Mall.
I wanted to get there early, before sunrise, to take some photos, but it turns out that sunrise is really really early! It is a bit of a drive for me, and I didn’t make sunrise, but I did manage to arrive earlier than I have in quite some time. Once I arrived, I started walking around, (camera at the ready!) to start my coverage. I snapped a few photos as I made my way to the main display area of exotics. While there were a lot of cars out here, there were still plenty of spots still left open. Which worked out perfectly for the pair of purple Lamborghinis that both rolled in a short time later.
The overcast skies did a good job holding off the heat of the noonday sun, and kept the temperatures cool and breezy. Although it was still warm enough that I headed back to my car to remove the jacket I had opted for earlier. It didn’t look like there would be any more rain during the event time and I was getting warmer as the day progressed.
One of the best things I saw during this month’s gathering was the Radio Flyers wagon that’s been fitted with a seat, sound system, working tail lights, and more. This kid had a pretty sweet ride. If he has a better ride than you, well… you better step it up (and no, I didn’t ask him if this was street legal!).
There was no shortage of domestic rides out here, which was a little unusal for this group, but still nice to see. Further in the back, I did come across a second-generation Honda Civic along with its owner. All stock and with no plans to change it, his plan is to restore it to all its former original glory. After I reached one end of the event, I decided to head back towards the front of the show and see if I’d missed any late arrivals, and sure enough, there were a few that had tried to sneak in behind me! I took a few more photos and ended my coverage as it was the event’s official ending time. Houston Coffee and Cars is typically held on the first Saturday morning of the month from 8 am till 10 am, see you at the next one!
