Houston Coffee & Cars April 2018
Houston Coffee and Cars comes once a month and consistently held on the first Saturday of the month. There only been a handful of times over the years where it was rescheduled due to heavy rain in the forecast or other unusual weather expectations.
This April was one of those few times, and they did have to reschedule due to heavy rain in the forecast. After the mandated rain delay, the event did manage to come together, and the event host was also helping collect donations for the Bruno Lara Fund, so it was also for a good cause. Unfortunately, the rescheduled date ended up having rain as well (Where are the weather control machines we were all promised?! This is 2018!! And why aren’t we living on Mars yet?! OK, I’m off-topic…), fortunately the majority of the rain had passed before the event started and it stayed pretty clear for the rest of the afternoon. Added bonus, it helped take the edge off the heat in what would have otherwise been hot and humid day!
Even with the weather not being perfect, there were plenty of vehicles that made it out, along with crowds of people. This might of been the best turnout the event has had so far, even with the sketchy weather. I think wet cars make for great photos, so I did my best to try to get as many shots as possible as I made my way through the venue.
I arrived around starting time and stayed till the end of the official time. It’s important to get there early because as veterans of these events all know, some come and leave early so, arrive late and you miss them! By the time I was approaching the end of the parking lot section for the event, it would safe to say more than half the cars had already left. I returned towards the main area stopping by a few cars to get some additional shots to wrap up my coverage and make sure I hadn’t missed anything.
