Houston Coffee & Cars September 2017
With all the destruction that Hurricane Harvey and the resulting flooding brought to Houston, the monthly Houston Coffee & Cars was delayed a week from their usual first Saturday of the month schedule. Along with the re-schedule, the staff also turned the event into a Harvey relief drive to help out our city in its time of need. Besides having cooler weather, one huge positive that came out of Harvey was how many people came together to help all over the city, and I am happy to see many car enthusiasts helped as well through the collection at the event.
I arrived at Memorial City Mall a bit later than I expected but was greeted with a huge turnout of people walking around the venue. With that, I worked from the backside of the display area towards the front, where there were a few special cars on display — including the Pagani Huayra BC and the matching McLaren P1 Carbon Series. The new Ford GT was also in attendance this time around. These rides, along with a few others, had a constant crowd of spectators crowding around to take photos the majority of the time they were there.
I continued walking around the parking lot trying to snap photos of whatever grabbed my attention, but since I arrived late, a good amount of the rides already started to leave. I continued my rounds with the occasional break to chat amongst friends before making my way to the next section of cars. To my dismay, a lot of the rides already starting clearing out.
With that, I decided to change lenses on my camera to give a new lens a test as I walked back towards the main area. I ended up liking some of the results from the new lens. I stayed for a while longer before heading back home. The collection at this month’s Coffee & Cars went towards helping Fort Bend ISD, Animal Justice League, and Gallery Furniture. Next month’s event will be held on October 7th, see you then!
