Oz Nats – Sydney, 2017

As the warmer months of summer dwindle here in Australia, disappointment slowly sets in amongst motoring enthusiasts. Many are forced to accept the realisation that the end of car show and event season is upon us! Whilst many of the circuit racing and professional race championships are still in full swing, local car meets are less prevalent as custom car owners and tuners lock their treasures away until the return of the dry and warmer months. Fortunately, the 2017 Oz Nats, held at Sydney Motorsport Park was a welcome addition to book-end this season’s calendar!

Oz Nats provided entrants and spectators with an action packed day bringing a wide variety of performance and show cars together for a huge day of fun and competition. Aimed at serious, but amateur car fanatics, the day proved be a real hit with over 100 entries across a broad range of vehicles. Classic Australian and American muscle, Japanese drifters, and even European supercars were paired together to compete in varied events including Burnouts, Street Drags (heads up drag racing), Super Skids, Go to Whoa, Track Cruising and the customary Show & Shine.

As luck would have it, Sydney provided a beautiful Autumn day to further add to the fun, and a friendly vibe was felt across the track. The family friendly event offered something for everyone with kids, entertainment, trade stands, and car displays in addition to the on-track action. Shredded tyres were the order of the day, with multiple track closures to clean the debris and tread carcasses that were strewn across the track throughout the day. Needless to say, the crowd was appreciative of the entrants efforts! The punters Spekture spoke to throughout the day were thrilled to be a part of the activities and highlighted the validity of the popular event.
