Sydney Cars & Coffee October 2017
Warm weather, clear skies, and sunshine! As we come to the end of October, the weather continues to impress as we move on from a mild Spring and into Summer “Down-Under” here in Australia. The Sydney Cars and Coffee event was scheduled again at Jones Bay Wharf for the second time since the initial event held here in Sydney last year. Due to a conflicting schedule, I was disappointed to not make last years event so I ensured my diary was free for this one. Great weather ensured a monumental turn out with over 150 cars on display. In turn, a huge turn out of spectators and admirers made the trip harbour side to see some of the incredible metal (and carbon fibre!) that was out in the show.
I made a point to arrive at the location early as parking is typically at a premium and was surprised to see the large crowds already gathering. A multitude of vehicles were on display, with supercars including varying models of Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren aligned along the length of the stunning harbour side wharf, all the while the sweet aroma of coffee added to the welcoming atmosphere.
A steady stream of spectators seemed to roll along the wharf all morning, with hardcore car enthusiasts, club ambassadors, fellow car owners, photographers and videographers, families and the casual passer-by all taking in the sights and sounds that were abuzz throughout the morning. Scattered amongst the exotic supercars were a hand full of classics, as well as a number of imports that ensured car fanatics from all eras had something to admire.
As the morning rolled on into midday the crowds and cars slowly dissipated returning the typically quite Jones Bay area to a state of normality. The backdrop of the relaxing harbour scenery made up in part by the superb yachts and boats that line the marina once again drew centre stage, drawing a close to the morning’s events. It never ceases to amaze me how strong and inclusive the motoring community can be, no matter where you may be located across the globe. I was certainly glad to be able to meet so many people, (both owner and spectator) and to experience the atmosphere and automotive perfection that was on hand to make the event such a huge success!
